Baby Gift, pt 1

So I took last week off to begin getting everything in my office organized. Something I've desperately needed  to do for quite some time, and still have not finished. This week I am back and hoping to post at least four days this week. I have been crafting like crazy and am really looking forward to sharing some of the things I've made.

First up is half of a baby shower gift I recently made for the friend of the family. She is having a little girl, due any time now, that they are naming Kaiya. The expectant mommy is not a huge fan of pink but both her and her hubby love the Japanese culture and Asian inspired decor. They chose to do the nursery in red, white and black.

All little girls have tons of hair bows and flowers and it can be very difficult to keep them all organized. So I made them this personalized bow board in their colors of choice. The monogram really stands on the damask black and white background. (Sorry about the horrible pictures, but I had to shoot them quickly before we delivered the gift!)

You can see that I even started them out with the first two bows for the board: a lovely red and white bow and a cute black and white with musical notes. Knowing the father is very musically oriented, I knew I couldn't pass up that ribbon when I saw it!

Another cute little item in the gift was the soft blocks in the nursery colors. They are good size blocks, but soft enough for baby hands to grip. Granted, baby Kaiya won't be playing with these for a couple of months. It is a cute little toy made from some scrap material that was a quick and easy addition to the gift.

Naturally, being a crafter, these were not the only gifts I gave. But, for the big gifts, you will have to come back tomorrow! I will add the last two items then and they are super cute and made the expectant mommy squeal!

Hair Bows, pt 3

After making so many little girl bows, I couldn't help but make some that older girls might want. These definitely have more of a rockabilly feel, and I have a bit of a weakness for the rockabilly style. These are bright colors and simple black plaid ribbon are sculpted into simple bows and attached to lined alligator clips.

The pink bow is a double bow with a total of four loops. It is so funky and fun. The second picture shows a set of six simple bows, two of each color, purple, pink and blue. I love the idea of selling sets of ribbons, mixing colors and patterns, so that customers can get a little more bang for their buck. Pay one low price and get accessories for multiple outfits. I love bargains - even the ones I create.

Hair Bows, pt 2

More little girl hair bows. These are so quick to make and I just love the almost instant gratification of making these. All of these about 2" wide and are mounted on lined alligator clips with clip liners for a little added grip when being worn

 

These clips will also be sold in sets of two pairs. That's right, four super sweet  little hair bows for one low price. I have lots more ribbon with adorable patterns that will make the cutest little bows. I can't wait to add more to the shop.

Hair Bows, pt 1

I finally got some pictures of the hair bows I've been making. These will all be listed for sale in my etsy shop, but you get a preview here! All these bows are about 2" wide and are on lined alligator clips (except for the the blue polka dot bows). They also feature clip liners which give the clips a little more grip in the hair.

The above bows are petite little bows, but I love the polka dots. These are attached to short bobby pins and are just too stinkin' cute.

The Sweet Treats bows pictured above are in light purple and pink. The pink bows have cute little cupcakes while the purple bows have ice cream cones. These will be so adorable over the summer with a cute sundress.

These are a little more dressy with the glitter vine design. I love the idea of these with an adorable little Sunday dress.

I love making these little bows and am already planning to make more for my shop. They will be sold in sets of two so you will get four adorable bows for one low price! I am really excited about these and hope others will love seeing them added to my inventory.

Pretty Little Hair Bows

Everyone knows a little girl that loves to dress up. Whether its a daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin or friend, little girls have a need to 'feel pretty' by dressing up and doing their hair. Making hair bows in all shapes, sizes and colors gives them many options of handmade goodies to play with.

Hair bows are surprisingly simple and inexpensive to make. You don't need expensive ribbons, tools or supplies. I personally love going to Michaels and Joanns to find clearance and on-sale ribbons. The snap clips can also be purchased at these big name craft supply store, however I haven't had much luck finding the alligator clips in my local stores. I was able to find a great seller on Etsy with incredibly affordable prices. I was even able to find self-adhesive no-slip grips for the clips from the same seller.

The Ribbon Retreat has a wonderful selection of instructions for the most popular styles. The instructions are in pdf format and have lots of detailed pictures. Just think of making beautiful hair accessories to match any or your little princess' outfits.

And don't think that these can't be made for older princess'. Simple bows are very popular among pre-teens through college aged girls, who love to accent their personal style. Give these a try and you'll be hooked.
